Wine Tips and Advice - Information
Wine consumption in Ireland has exploded over the past ten years with over 8 million bottles of wine being sold every year and with this number set to increase annually as our fascination with wine continues.
Wine is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermentation of unmodified grape juice. The natural chemical balance of grapes is such that they ferment without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes or other nutrients. Wine is nothing new, as wine can be traced back to ancient civilization dated back as far as 6000 BC. Wine was preferred over water as it was considered a health benefit, safer than water but today wine accompanies a night out in a restaurant or a relaxing night at home.
To really appreciate wine, wine benefits and the different types of wines, one must understand its origins, the complexity of wine production and the skills of the people behind the labels.
Come with us on a journey to discover more on wine and to acknowledge the time and skills that go in to producing a bottle of wine, and to see why the Irish are fast becoming a nation of wine drinkers.
